Obasan is a very fascinating and emotional story especially people who migrate from their homeland can easily connect with this story, the Author herself face all of this during World War 2. Joy Kogawa was born in Japan but her father move to Canada because he has good future in Canada. But after her immigration, World War 2 happened Japan and Canada were fighting to oppose sites.

So now they are in trouble because they cannot escape from Canada in a war situation. They hide in the house during this period because the Canadian government doesn’t allow any Japanese families in their country. The author writes each and every aspect of that time was not easy for their family.
